Line Maintenance Manager

This Line Maintenance Manager role will provide a continuous point of contact between our client and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) with regard to Line Maintenance operations. The Line Maintenance Manager will have an overview of the activities of the company’s regional engineering team and will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of the team. The Line Maintenance role is based at the NPAS Ops Centre in Wakefield.
Main Responsibilities
• Liaise directly with NPAS Continuing Airworthiness Management Support Officer (CAMSO) and prioritise AOG responses in consultation with NPAS.
• Co-ordination of line engineers to minimise visits to NPAS bases in consultation with NPAS CAMSO (ensure visits are consolidated whenever possible)
• Ensure line maintenance team compliance with our company’s processes and procedures
• Co-ordinate the line maintenance team to ensure that line station inventory is recorded and records maintained
• Co-ordinate the line maintenance team to ensure that company supplied local maintenance procedures are regularly checked at the line stations for correct revision status. (Chk A, rinse procedures etc)
• Manage the line maintenance engineer shift roster and take responsibility for the approval of leave, or absence, and ensure that appropriate cover is maintained
• Distribute tasking evenly to ensure that duty time is not excessive
• Ensure that tasks are correctly handed over between line engineers when required
• Oversee the requisition of spares to repair aircraft husbandry defects or deferrals when required prior to base maintenance inputs
• Ensure that each line engineer has a plan for the day whether it be specific tasking or stand by and that the plan is available to NPAS CAMSO and the NPAS Operations Centre
• Monitor the progress of tasks being carried out and report completion of line maintenance tasking to NPAS CAMSO and the NPAS CSM
• Support line engineers with the co-ordination of tooling and spares delivery to the relevant NPAS base
• Co-ordinate additional support where required for tasks that require additional engineers (Critical tasks/independent inspections)
• Provide a handover to the duty supervisor at the end of each day and ensure NPAS CAMSO are aware of any outstanding issues
KPIs
There is a service level agreement in place with NPAS. Specific response and rectification times will need to be observed and monitored.

Experience
• At least 5 years experience in helicopter line maintenance operations
• Previous supervisory experience
• Experienced on the company’s helicopter types
Knowledge and Skills
• Familiar with the engineering support requirements for police helicopter operations
• Excellent knowledge of Part 145 and Part M regulatory requirements and the relationship between Part M and Part 145 organisations
• Familiar with the scheduled maintenance requirements of the EC135 and EC145 helicopter.
• Good organisational skills with regard to the prioritisation of tasks.
• Excellent supervisory abilities, good personnel management skills combined with the ability to delegate tasks efficiently and effectively.
Education, Qualifications & Special Training
• Licensed B1.3 or B2 engineer
• Previous supervisory experience in a civilian or military environment
• A DBS and or Basic Security Clearance is required for this position due to NPAS Security requirements.

• Flexible with a positive approach and genuine enthusiasm for the job.
• This role requires constant direct dialogue with the customer and it is vital that the candidate has excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• A high level of personal integrity.
